Victorian
Walnut Writing Desk
An exceptional Victorian writing desk in American black walnut, circa 1880, attributed to a Philadelphia cabinetmaking workshop. The piece features a leather-inlaid writing surface in deep burgundy, nine dovetailed drawers with original brass pulls, and a fitted interior with pen trays and ink bottle compartments. The turned legs exhibit the characteristic craftsmanship of the late Victorian era, while the carved decorative frieze reflects the aesthetic influences of the Eastlake movement. Previously in the collection of a prominent Boston attorney, this desk has been professionally cleaned and conserved while retaining all original elements.
