Baroque Armchair
A commanding armchair in the Spanish Baroque tradition, dating to the early 18th century. Constructed of carved walnut with mortise-and-tenon joinery, this piece retains traces of original gilding on the crest rail and armrests. The seat and back are upholstered in period-appropriate velvet of deep crimson, a museum-grade reproduction that honors the original textile tradition. Spanish furniture of this period is exceptionally rare in private collections, as much of it remains in ecclesiastical institutions and state museums. The chair's provenance traces to a noble family estate in Seville, documented by an accompanying letter of authenticity from the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
