Nouveau Mahogany Settee
A sinuous and captivating settee in the Art Nouveau style, attributed to a Parisian workshop circa 1900. The frame is carved from solid Cuban mahogany with flowing naturalistic forms — stylized lily pads and dragonflies — that exemplify the organic aesthetic of the movement. Original spring-cushion upholstery has been preserved beneath the current covering of period-correct silk. The piece was acquired from a Paris estate in 1962 and subsequently exhibited at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (documentation available). This is an opportunity to acquire a signature piece of one of design history's most beloved movements.
